DXG Dresses up HD Camcorders with Bling and Low Price

DXG Luxe Collection camcordersAlong with their traditional low price, DXG Designs has come up with an additional tactic to sell their HD camera line, fashion.

As Gearlog.com reported the other day, the discount manufacturer and seller of digital still and video cameras has repackaged what looks from a distance to be their DXG-566V HD video cameras, or at least something close to it, with stylish outers that make them appear something like clutch purses. Obviously aimed at a younger, and a presumably female demographic, the cameras branded under name of the "Luxe Collection" come within packaging that match the outer covering of the cameras. Each HD camcorder also comes with a matching case that looks like a mini purse, to carry what already looks like a mini purse in, completing the fashion theme.

Again, it is only a guess that these are the DGX-566V model dressed up and looking for someplace to go since there are no specs available yet. The scant information out there on them is that they capture 720p H.264 video, take 5 MP stills, and include an HDMI cable, but offer only 2x zoom and no image stabilization. This pretty much sounds like the 566V model though. Check out the specs for that model here if you are interested. Better yet, wait a little bit to see if official specs for the Luxe Collection show up. They are scheduled to be available in August for $130. At that price coupled with the clutch appeal, I'm sure DXG will unload a few of these.
