Sony's Touchscreen Walkman Unveiled(?)
Late last week, the folks over at Sony Insider released quasi-official details of the company's upcoming touchscreen Walkman. The new player is set to debut in 16 and 32GB sizes, and will come equipped with a 3-inch touchscreen powered by OLED technology--a first for Sony. Not only will it boast vibrant, colorful visuals, but it packs a pretty robust feature set for such a small player. Sony's new PMP will come with on-board Wi-Fi and web browsing capabilities. These will be harnessed to provide YouTube connectivity, automatic podcast downloads, and the ability to directly purchase content from the Amazon MP3 store. It will also feature an S-Master digital amplifier and digital noise cancelling for improved sound quality. The new Walkman will even receive FM radio, perfect for those of us who miss our music peppered with commercials. We'll get a chance to check up on Sony Insider's info in January, when then new touchscreen Walkman goes on display at CES 2009.
